DIGI Labels has secured FSC® Chain of Custody certification for its Mullingar facility, enabling the company to offer verified, responsibly sourced label solutions that trace forest‑based materials from well‑managed forests, controlled sources, or reclaimed materials through to the finished product. The certification reinforces DIGI’s long‑standing commitment to sustainable procurement and transparent supply chains.
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international non‑governmental organisation that sets standards for environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management. Chain of Custody certification provides independent assurance that products sold with an FSC claim meet recognised traceability and sourcing requirements. For DIGI customers, this means the option to specify FSC‑eligible labels that support corporate sustainability targets and responsible sourcing policies.
DIGI’s journey to certification
Celebrating its 40th year in business, DIGI Labels is an Irish, family‑owned manufacturer of self‑adhesive labels and tags serving the food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, logistics and cosmetics sectors. The Mullingar site, one of three DIGI Group locations on the island of Ireland, completed a comprehensive programme of FSC training, documentation and auditing following a period of strategic growth that included four acquisitions in four years. The company has also expanded its workforce by 56% over four years and continues to invest in systems and people to support responsible procurement and production.
Declan Boran, General Manager, DIGI Labels, said: “Responsible management of the world’s forests is of utmost importance to us and to our customers. Achieving FSC® Chain of Custody certification means we can offer verified, responsibly sourced label options and demonstrate transparency across our supply chain.”
Sustainability Lead Katie Kirwan had this to add: “This certification gives our customers the confidence to make credible sustainability claims. It simplifies procurement decisions and helps brands meet regulatory and voluntary sustainability commitments while maintaining product integrity.”
DIGI will follow FSC trademark and labelling rules when applying the FSC logo and claims to qualifying products. The company will track certified material through procurement and production controls to ensure accurate FSC claims and transparent reporting.
